Farmington Heart Restart!

The focus of Farmington Heart Restart! is to promote the actions that can increase the survival rate of sudden cardiac arrest victims. These actions are: Call 9-1-1, start CPR, and administer defibrillation.

Our goal is to train 10% of our residents in CPR Anytime and encourage all businesses to have automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in their facilities and to make available the locations of AEDs in our community.

What is sudden cardiac arrest?
Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. It happens because the electrical signals that regulate the pumping action of the heart go haywire. Unable to pump blood to the organs and brain, the heart stops beating. If CPR is not given and the heart is not shocked back into regular rhythm with an AED, the body and the brain are deprived of oxygen and death results. But, if action is taken, victims can survive.
